LATELY LISTENING TO: i don't even know man the last thing i had here was outdated but i don't want to leave it alone even if i don't have a new answer
i like a lot of different music but i'm not really sure how i want to link to any of it.... for now, i'll just put artist names and some notes if i have any...? know that i listen to whatever strikes me as interesting and i dont really discriminate based on what's considered "good" or "bad" music. up to you whether you want to take these as recommendations or not but know that i am like stupid amounts of mentally ill (and just stupid in general) and that's gonna reflect in my taste. make of it what you will
click on the band/artist name for my notes and maybe an album recommendation.
Crumb
their whole discography.... my cop-out answer when someone asks me what my favorite band is goes to these guys for like the last.... 5 or 6 years? one of the first bands i found when i started to branch out on my own wrt music taste (read: got a spotify account) during freshman year of high school. i hold a major soft spot for their music for this reason. nice to sleep toSTOMACH BOOK
beginning of 2023, first few months were spent in a really shitty mental place. self-titled and the 3 eps released at the time got me through it. i feel like i'd been missing a harsher sound like this for a while... though i don't think that's quite the descriptor i'm looking for. regardless there is a reason i've left that album playlist on the front page lol. music that is good to feel emotions to and aboutFever the Ghost
i found their song "Source" (excellent music video) at the end of middle school. i would refer back to this if anyone ever asked what "inspired" me to branch out to new music (as prior to this point i pretty much exclusively listened to video game osts and whatever music my family played). another deep soft spot, god knows what the lyrics are saying 90% of the time but i love their music. the newer stuff isnt as special to me (has kind of a different vibe, though "Amaranthine" slaps) but the album "Crab in Honey" in particular brings back memories (positive, mostly).Delta Sleep
another band where i enjoy their discography as a whole more than any specific album...The Hotelier
ow the emotions. but it's so good man. "Home, Like NoPlace Is There"Mother Mother
call it "edgy" if you must, but. it's music that makes me feel feelings and a lot of it fucks like hell, cringe or not. "O My Heart" and "Touch Up" were big in high school lolARTHUR
"Woof Woof" album. that is allOingo Boingo
i fucking love the "Dead Man's Party" album that shit gets me energised. once upon a time i used it to help me get up in the mornings.toe
album "the book about my idle plot on a vague anxiety". also haha funny toe nameInner Wave
i haven't actively listened to these guys in a hot second but i found them right around the same time as crumb, so they have an equal soft spot. good to sleep to as well, album "Underwater Pipe Dreams" i prefer for thisFLEECE
"Voyager" album. also used this to wake up lolModest Mouse
one time many years ago i read a post saying that the singer from this band sounds like he's being chased around with a garden hose and i can't argue against it. favorite albums "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" and "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank"Vundabar
i consider this the final entry in the trifecta of bands i found freshman year that really influenced what kind of music i would search for, for a long while. more coarse feel than the other two (crumb and inner wave). albums "Gawk" and "Antics", "Smell Smoke" is also pretty good.Feed Me Jack
i definitely found these guys sometime in high school but i kind of forgot about them for a while; rediscovered 2024 and i greatly enjoy "Anatolia".later i think i'll add some bands that were very influential for me as a kid (largely what my mom was listening to). but not now i'm lazy. i'll do formatting at some point but writing a few here so i don't forget (Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Authority Zero, Gorillaz, System of a Down, The Cure)
- i'm still being lazy about this page but here's an extra non-exhaustive list of some of my favorite albums from artists not already on the above lists (formatted artist - album):
- Baths - Cerulean
- BEDROOM - Grow
- Soft Cough - Soft Cough
- Radiohead - In Rainbows
- feeble little horse - Girl with Fish
- The Garden - haha
- Hippo Campus - Landmark
- Dream Puzzles - Hell Is Real Forever
- Nouns - still bummed
- The Drums - Portamento
- Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
